In this post, we’ll share the seven steps to choosing the perfect color for your braces.
Seven Steps To Choose The Color For Your Braces
Step #1 – Ask Your Dentist
It can be hard if you’ve never worked with colors or don’t really know what the colors will look like in your mouth. It’s best to consult your dentist to discuss what would be the best color.
Step #2 – Ask To See The Colors
It can be tough to choose a color if you’ve never seen it. In most cases, you’ll be given a palette of colors to choose from, which helps you make the best decision possible. Ask your dentist questions as you consider the colors, too!
Step #3 – Consider Your Skin Tone
It may seem a little extreme, but the color of your braces will accent the color of your skin tone. For example, if you’re an autumn, you’ll want to go with yellow, oranges, or reds. If you’re a spring, you’ll want to stick with pinks, baby blues, and other softer colors. Darker skin tones tend to look better with jewel tones like navy, emerald, purple, or turquoise.
Step #4 – Examine Your Wardrobe?
Do you tend to wear light or dark colors? Hard or soft shades? Is your style more conservative or liberal? You want to choose a color for your braces that fit with your style. The easiest way to do this is to consider a general color wheel, match it to your wardrobe and then choose a complimentary braces color.
Step #5 – Get Rid Of “No” Colors
Do you see any colors that you are immediately against? Get rid of them. Take them “off the table” of choices. This will narrow your options and give you a better chance at choosing something you’ll love.
Step #6 – Make Your Teeth Look Whiter
In most cases, darker colors for your braces will make your teeth look whiter. Stronger colors like purple, blue, or, in some instances, orange can make your teeth look brighter than they actually are.
Step #7 – Change Colors
It’s possible to change the colors of your braces during your adjustment appointments. The appointment may run a little longer, since you’d be switching to a new color, but you can find the color you like, eventually. Most braces take at least 18 months, so you’ll have plenty of time to find the perfect color for our braces.
